House Plants going Wild

My house plants have been flourishing lately. The aloe plant is needing tho be transplanted into a bigger pot because all the arms on it have gotten long and fat...too big for the pot. The vine has just gone crazy taking over the living room up and over the window sill and crawling along the floor. The money tree used to to sit in the window in the kitchen, but has branched out too much and had to be moved to a table.

Christmas trees and great food

Woke up today in a fabulous mood. I did my hair and makeup all pretty, then did some schoolwork for a while. Jason and I went out to do some shopping to get some Christmas gifts for our family members. We didn't purchase anything but we got some ideas and we will probably do some online shopping to make it easy for the both of us. We went to Best Buy to try all the new little gadgets that are out...like the new 3D tvs, the nook reader, and some video cameras. Lots of cool electronics, but very pricey. We ran some other errands...i got a new back back because mine has a big hole in the bottom of it and we also got some yummy groceries at the store. Everytime we go to the grocery store we always buy more than what is on our list. I got ingrediants for our dinner and also some ingrediants to make banana bread. Our dinner was so fantastic...carribean crusted mahi mahi, roasted red potatoes with rosemary, garlic terryaki green beans. We also had some assorted nuts that we cracked from the shells. To top the night off we put up the christmas tree. It is a beautiful 7 foot tree. However, we still need to decorate the tree. We need to get a star, lights, and ornaments. Had a fantastic day and just finishing off the night with some kettle corn and football.

Big 12 Championship Game

Well just back back to Houston from a nice vacation weekend with my boyfriend. We drove four hours to Dallas to see the Big 12 Championship college football game between Nebraska and Oklahoma. I met my brother and his girlfriend Molly there too. They drove 10 hours from Omaha, Nebraska to watch the game. We got there Friday night and went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant, and then to a really cool bar afterwards. The bar had pool tables, pinball machines, cheap beer, cool artwork, and good music. We had a lot of fun and if I ever go back to Dallas I would like to go there again. On Saturday we woke up and went to get lunch at a Mongolian Grill restaurant, and it was good cuisine. We went back to the hotel for a nap and then drove to Cowboy Stadium at 5pm for the 7 o'clock game. The final score was 23-20 with Oklahoma winning, so that was a bummer for me.

Miss Kandee Johnson

...is my favorite makeup artist. I lkove watching her makeup tutorials on you tube. I 've learned a lot about different makeup brands and different celebrity styles. She used to do hair too, so I've watched some hair videos as well. She has a fun persoanlity that is why I like her so much. She also used to be a model, and she has three children with one on the way. Here is a picture of her.

Green Thumb sara

This is a picture of my agave plant that I planted at my boyfriend's house and it has started to flourish. It looks pretty cool in the backyard. We also planted other plants such as Japonese boxwoods and wandering Jews. The wandering Jews got a lot of sun and have spread throughout the garden. We had to move them to a different area so they wouldnt get as much sun. There are a couple palm trees and some other schrubs.

My Babies

These are my two favorite little furballs, Wrigley and Lola. They are my little shih tzu dogs that are 6 years old and they have been there for me through tough times and great times. Anytime I am sad or lonely I go give them a hug or squeeze and it instantly makes me feel better. They are sometimes little rambunctious and do things that they shouldn't do, but I am patient and forgiving, so I let it slide at times. Lola is my special little lady that I got from a rescue shelter, and so she had a rough life before I got her. I bought Wrigley in Magnolia Texas from a breeder.

Land Ho

Today my boy friend Jason is supposed to be coming home from work...he works on a vessel out in the Gulf of Mexico. The vessel he works on is called the Viking Poseidon, and it's a very big ship. He is an ROV supervisor, so he does under water construction while operating robots. ROV stands for Robot Operated Vehicle. When he goes on a hitch, he is usually gone for one month and then he is home on land for one month. He was gone for Thanksgiving so I'm really excited to see him. Today they are to be sending out a helicopter to his vessel to pick him and a couple other guys up to bring them back to Houston, However, today is very windy and they don't fly helicopters when it is windy because it's too dangerous. His trip back home may be delayed and can be frusterating because I miss him a lot.

Happy Birthday miss Sandy

Yesterday was my dear friend Sandy's birthday. She invited me to go to dinner at a fantastic restaurant called Fogo de Choa with her family on Sunday night. I was planning on going to join her birthday festivities, but I was very ill and couldn't join the fun. I was bummed out because that is one of my favorite restaurants...the meast there is so good and some of the side dishes are to die for as well. To make it up to Sandy I took her out to breakfast yesterday morning to one of her favorite breakfast places which is the Cracker Barrel. It was delicious and we rocked in the chairs out in front of the restaurant.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Here is a picture of me in my work scrubs today before I go into work...Wishing everyone out there a wonderful turkey day! I have a lot to be thankful for...I have my health, my family, friends, teachers, co-workers, and just the friendly strangers that I meet. I am a long way from home, so I will be  without immediate family, but that is just fine because I am celebrating with my work family. I know it will be a joyous day when I get to work because I know I bring joy to my patients. I work with the elderly and sometimes their families are unable to make it to see them, and some people don't have families anymore. I love talking to them to cheer them up and just listen to their stories. They have been on this earth a lot longer than I have and they have had many life experiences that they share with me. Well, I'm about to leave for work. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Omaha is my Homaha

Hi ya'll...so I just got back from my fabulous getaway back to my hometown, Omaha, Nebraska. There were a couple occasions to celebrate while I was back including my 29th birthday and my younger sister had two baby showers.  The first day I got in I was picked up at the airport by my brother then went to my parents house to regroup before the first baby shower. My younger sister Katy and her husband Keith are expecting their first child in December and it's a girl! So my mom has bought the baby a ton of gifts already and she let me use some that she bought to give to my sister...because I'm a poor college student ;). The first shower was a lot of fun with good food, games, and presents. In one of the games my mom, my older sister Lynn, myself, and Katy had to chug apple juice from a baby bottle (which is harder than it looks)...Katy ended up winning. The next day was my birthday, so my older sister Lynn and my mom took me shopping and got me this awesome watch and a bracelet...love them! After that I went to Katy's doctor appointment and the doctor measured how big the baby was inside her, which was 5 lbs. Then, the whole family went out to eat, and to a piano bar after that. That was a fun night! The rest of my trip basically included hanging with the family and a second baby shower. Then I came back home to two very happy doggies to see their mama ...ME!

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!

So wow...I went as Peg Bundy to a Halloween party last night. I learned that Peg Bundy is too high maintenance for my liking. With her high heels, claw-like fake nails, big hooped earrings, goddy jewelry, non-stop smoking cigs, brightly colored red hair, and red lipstick, I thought I looked like a scary mess when I was all Peggified...yet think I did a good job of pulling off the Peg look. The Party I went to was fun. The couple who hosted had been decorating their house for about 2 weeks and it looked like a haunted house. They hired a dj and had good food, dance floor, and some costume contests. I did see some other awesome costumes and some lame ones too, but it was a good time. Here is a picture of the happy couple...Peggy and Al Bundy. And by the way, that is my real hair that took me a long time to curl, back comb, and spray the shit out of to get that look. My hair is colored blond, and let me tell you it was a bitch to get that shit out. Oh but it was worth it for the costume:)

Sara the Riveter

So today I got a little bored and decided to do a pinup makeup look. Today's pinup is me...Sara the Riveter. Of course my inspiration was a combination of Rosie the Riveter and my favorite makeup artist, Kandee Johnson. Basically all you need is a bandanna, eyeliner, and lipstick. Lots of dark eyeliner is the key to the pinup eye and maybe some fake lashes for fun as well. Bright red or hot pink lipstick will do for the lips...bright, bright, bright and luscious. I didn't do my bandanna exactly as Rosie wore hers back in the day, but still a nice version I think...and much easier for someone who has a ton of hair like myself:) Here is me with my pinup look and also one of Rosie. ENJOY!!!!

Sunday Funday

Today was a productive day filled with exercise, shopping, makeup, cooking, and relaxing. I went for a 15 mile bike ride at Bush Park...I will upload a picture of my sweet beach cruiser I rode on. Shopping included a Halloween store, and the grocery store. I decided on a costume that I will put together myself of Peg Bundy, and will later upload a picture of that after my party.Spent an hour atgrocery store and bought enough food to feed the fricken neighborhood :) I made a fabulous dinner tonight all on the grill including, filet mignon, bacon wrapped prawns with a jalapeƱo slice in the middle, grilled red potatoes, asparagus, and some marinated chicken breasts that didn't get eaten because I stuffed myself with other food first. To top that off I had a delicious iced tea vodka beverage with lemon and lime.

Upcoming things in my blog will include various things I do in my everyday life.
